As temperatures begin to fall it’s time to prepare your closet for the colder weather. Although I hate the colder weather, I have to say I adore winter fashion. Give me a chunky jumper and leather boots over summer dresses any day. Here are my top five winter essentials for surviving the cold while maintaining some sense of style.
As much as I love a classic black Chelsea boot, in my opinion, a statement boot is a key Winter essential. In the middle of winter when everyone is wrapped up in their black coats, a statement boot can make a real different to your outfit.
Faux Fur Jacket
Faux fur jackets used to be a very niche look. Over the past few years, faux fur has been seen in every shop on the high street. And for good reason, they are so darn warm and they are actually pretty easy to wear.
Blanket Wrap Scarf
The blanket scarf is a trend that I can get behind 100%. It’s the most socially acceptable way to wear to publically wrap yourself up in a blanket while still calling it a fashion statement. There are many different ways you can wear the scarf. I for one prefer wrapping myself like a giant human burrito.
Gingham has had something of a resurrection in recent seasons. While gingham can look great all year round, the print is great in winter as it can add another dimension to an otherwise basic look. From deconstructive shirts, pants and coats, gingham is becoming a winter staple.
While I love the array of all the rad coat trends happening this season, there is something so timeless about a grey overcoat I can’t get enough of. Whether you throw on a sweatshirt and sneakers or trousers and heels, the grey coat will always pull the look together.
